About Me

Bainbridge has been home to me, my husband and our son since 1992. Prior to that I taught Physical Education and English for 15 years at Crescenta Valley High School (La Crescenta, CA).

My early interest in how we physically organize ourselves and how literature offers metaphors for life established a useful foundation upon which I would later build an approach to psychotherapy that acknowledges our body/mind connection and our hunger to be maker’s of meaning. I credit my positive experiences with many of my students for the initial impetus to seek post-graduate studies as a therapist.

In 1986 I earned a Master’s in Marriage and Family Therapy from Azusa Pacific University ( CA). I have been licensed and practicing in the State of Washington since 1988.

I opened my private practice on Bainbridge in 1999, after working for four years as the Bainbridge Youth Services on-site counselor at Woodward Middle School. I chose to specialize in offering adult individual treatment mainly because I have found it a valuable part of my own journey.

My training in Family Systems continues to inform me. I have experienced that an appreciation of context—culture, community, family, and genetic endowment—is essential to understanding the whole person and the stance they take towards what arises in their internal world.
